Earlier this week, Peter Livesey, our CEO, and Stephen Kimmett, Finance Director of Roughton, were panel guests at an UKEF staff event. The discussion was hosted by UKEF’s Mike Newing, Head of Export Finance Managers, and covered such topics as meaning of exporting for UK companies, finding and realising opportunities, challenges faced by SMEs and working with UKEF. 10 years ago today a young school leaver joined Esprit Digital as a trainee. As in every small business everyone has to do a bit of everything and the learning curve is either steep or it doesn’t work out. Luckily for us in this instance it worked out and James Wilder has rewarded us with a decade of loyal service. Starting as a general assistant, he progressed to production assembly, Operations Manager and then to his current role as Head of Special Projects, where he has been responsible for developing some of our highest profile projects around the world.

Thank you James, we have enjoyed watching you mature both personally and professionally – we wish you every success for the bright future you so deserve.

Esprit Digital today joins an elite group of British companies who have been recognised for continued success in international trade. As a Queen’s Award winner the company has received an invitation to attend a special reception at Buckingham Palace with HM The Queen this coming July.

For many years Esprit has exported bespoke advertising screen solutions to every corner of the globe, often to the most high profile and challenging public environments such as Airports, Metros and Shopping Malls. Having completed sizeable projects on London Underground escalators, in Westfield London and Stratford and all of the major UK airports including Heathrow, Esprit embarked on a journey to introduce their ground-breaking designs and technology to large overseas infrastructure owners. Notable wins followed in Europe, the Middle East and the US before the company tendered for and won the largest ever digital rollout in Australia – 37 malls were converted from paper adverts to digital screens in 21 nights, a project worth over A$21 million.

James Brenner, CTO of Esprit Digital commented, “The Queen’s Awards are the most prestigious business accolades you can win. They are only awarded to companies demonstrating the highest level of excellence over several years and spanning countless projects – we are truly honoured and delighted to receive the award for International Trade. After a year of unparalleled success for every aspect of the business in 2015, we are currently in the process of building a new ‘state of the art’ facility in Stevenage and will create up to 10 new positions this year. Over the summer we will be celebrating in style with a party for all of our worldwide staff attended by a Royal representative.”

Just over 100 Queen’s Awards have been announced this year for outstanding business achievement in the fields of International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development.

Managing Director Peter Livesey added, “Esprit has built its reputation on reliability, keeping screens working in difficult conditions 24/7/365 for a minimum of 5 years. As a company we are going from strength to strength and it is particularly gratifying that as one of the founders of the technology driving the digital out-of-home (DOOH) revolution, the whole team has been rewarded for a lot of very hard work.”

About the Queen’s Awards

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious accolades for businesses and individuals in the United Kingdom. The winners are announced each year on 21st April, Her Majesty The Queen’s birthday. The corporate awards recognise outstanding achievements by UK companies in three categories: International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development. Each Award is valid for five years and winners are invited to a reception with HM The Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Esprit Digital are pleased to announce we will be exhibiting at both DSE and Globalshop 2016!

Borehamwood-based digital display company, Esprit Digital has secured a £10m international contract, creating eight new local jobs.

The UK manufacturer of out-of-home digital display screen solutions has won a £10m contract with The Scentre Group – owner of Westfield shopping centres.

The deal – made possible with the support of a significant funding package from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking – will see Esprit Digital manufacture, install and fully maintain a network of 1,380 LCD displays across the retail group’s 37 Australian sites.

The company’s high-end digital advertising displays are already installed in venues across Europe, including London Heathrow and Gatwick airports, the London Underground and Paris Metro.

Unique to Esprit Digital, the high spec screens incorporate the latest advertising technology, such as image flow and synchronisation.

Lloyds Bank, under the Export Working Capital Scheme, provided Esprit Digital with a £1.1m trade facility in case of delays in the supply chain triggering delays in stage payments from the customer.

Esprit Digital currently employs 15 staff and has existing operations in the UK and America. Following the contract win, Esprit plans to build an office in Australia to provide on-the-ground support, with an additional eight members of staff being taken on there.

Peter Livesey, founder and managing director at Esprit Digital, said: “When we started the business in 2003, we had big international ambitions for the firm.

“Now, 12 years later we are exporting to more than ten countries. Our new deal is the next step in our international expansion goals.

Andrew Mannering, relationship director at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “Esprit Digital is a great example of an ambitious British business looking to introduce its product into new markets.

“Indeed, many firms in London and the Home Counties are already taking advantage of this, with more than a third currently selling their goods or services abroad.

“To underline our commitment to boosting international trade, we have a strategic partnership with UKTI and have pledged to grow our provision of trade finance to SMEs by 25%.
